Bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, is a cryptocrystalline quartz. It is primarily dark forest-to-deep green, speckled with spots or streaks of bright red to brown. The green color comes from mineral inclusions like chlorite within the quartz, while the red "blood" spots are caused by iron oxide (hematite) inclusions.
