What is Shungite? 

Shungite is an ancient stone, believed to be 2 billion years old. Shungite is black, has a semi-dull look and is 50% plus carbon based, which means it's unlike any other stone on earth as carbon forms the building blocks of life! 

It is said to be the sole identified organic point of supply of fullerenes on the planet. Fullerenes (aka Bucky balls)were one of the first nano particles discovered, they are molecules composed entirely of carbon, in the form of a hollow cage like sphere. Fullerenes are a power house of antioxidants that neutralize free radicals, viruses, bacteria, fungus and pathogens. In 1996 a group of scientist were awarded a Nobel prize for the discovery of this rare carbon mineral (Shungite) the only recognised natural mineral to contain fullerenes, a crystalline form of carbon.

The History of Healing Shungite

Shungite is sourced only from Russia, in the Karelia region near the town of Shunga. Theories on the formation of shungite are linked to a carbonaceous meteorite or from primordial micro-organisms found in pre-existing ancient seas. Despite its origins, it is said that this stone is 2 billion years old. The therapeutic properties of Lake Onega results from the abundance of shungite that is buried beneath the surface. Curative properties of shungite date back to 17th century. Xenia Romanov, from House of Romanov, a dynasty that lasted 300 years, grew fatally ill. The townspeople provided Xenia with water from Lake Onega. Xenia Romanov had given birth to 7 babies, all who died after birth. After drinking the water, Xenia health was restored and gave birth to Mikhail Romanov, the first ruler of the 300yo dynasty. Peter the Great’s soldiers were given chunks of shungite to carry with them during battle. Stones were placed in their canteens to clean the water, making it safe to drink. Many grounded soldiers were reputedly healed by the waters. They won the Battle of Poltova in 1709 against the Swedes who contracted dysentery. 18th century, further studies were done by physicians Robert Areskin & Lawrence Blumentrosta. Areskin advised Peter the Great on the value of these waters, which eventually led to a directive made by court medics that declared these waters were effective in healing & offered protection against rheumatism, joint problems, heart disease, liver illness & other illnesses.
